X
/ Y AXIS ADJUSTMENT At the bottom left corner the light intensity knob is used during brightfield, phase and darkfield microscopy. This is normally off for fluorescence microscopy. The paired stage adjustment knobs hanging down allows the operator to adjust the X (left/right) and Y (up/down) axis of the mechanical stage. This is used to position the specimen for viewing. At the rear of the base is the fine (smaller, outside) and coarse (large, inside) focus adjustment knobs. These are used to focus the specimen for viewing. Generally when using the 40X and 100X objectives only the fine adjust knob is used. This is to ensure you do not grind the lens into the specimen slide! |
